The comprehensive strength of scientific and technological innovation maintains the top position in 12 consecutive years.
The financial investment in science and technology was 23.51 billion yuan. The annual output value of new & high-tech industries was 2.2 trillion yuan with a 17.2% growth from last year, accounting for 52.5% of the total of industries above designated size.
There are 17 new engineering research centers above the provincial level, 172 enterprise technology centers above the provincial level. The number of scientific and technological incubators and mass makerspaces both ranks the top in Jiangsu Province. There are over 19,000 incubating enterprises.
The year of 2021 witnessed a net increase of 1,393 in the number of new & high-tech enterprises, making the total number reach 11,165 in an accumulative manner. 157 of them were recognized as unicorn cultivation companies and 528 were gazelle enterprises. 24 enterprises were voted for the national specialization and new “little giant” enterprises , making the total of 49 in an accumulative manner. A national pilot zone for Innovation and development of new-generation artificial intelligence, biopharmaceutical technological center, the 3rd generation of semiconductor technology innovation center were successfully approved. The national advanced technological transformation center in the Yangtze River Delta, the first of its kind, has settled in Suzhou and the Deep-time Digital Earth(DDE) international “big science” program has been approved to launch.
A batch of high-level innovation carriers such as Gusu Laboratory, Suzhou Research Institute of University of Science and Technology of China have been laid out.
