A total of 4,000 runners participated in the 2020 Changshu Shanghu Lake International Half Marathon on Oct. 25. The event featured a most beautiful running route around the Shanghu Lake, offering the runners a good opportunity to appreciate the amazing scenery.
The weather was cool and fine. Some of the contestants gathered at the starting point before 7:00 in the morning, waiting excitedly for the coming race which would kick off at 8:30. This year’s event included a half marathon (21.0975 km) and a short marathon (about 10 km), which were attended by 3,000 and 1,000 runners respectively. Those who finished the races were awarded medals with a design inspired from Ruyi, a traditional S-shaped ornament believed to be a symbol of health and good luck.
