On August 8, which marks the 12th National Fitness Day, 122 sports venues in Suzhou will be open to the public for free, an increase of 23 from last year. The list of these venues can be found on the “Suzhou Sports” and “Suzhou Evening News” official WeChat accounts.
Suzhou has a well-developed public sports service system that covers both urban and rural areas. As of the end of 2019, Suzhou’s per capita sporting ground area reached 3.49 square meters and the city had 86 sports parks and 2,602 kilometers of fitness trails, among others. A number of high-quality projects such as the Grand Canal Sports Park, Suzhou Ring Walk, the Jinji Lake fitness trail, the Yushan Mountain trail and the “Taihu Blue” jogging and cycling greenway system have become new name cards of the city.
To celebrate the National Fitness Day 2020, Suzhou will organize a variety of sports and fitness activities to shape a habit of exercising among a larger population and improve public health.
